What you
need To know before buying a Driver.
A good golf instructor that
understands golf club fitting is worth their weight in gold.
Fitting clubs is not a perfect science however technology has
made club fitting better.
Before the Launch Monitor, a club fitter would watch the ball flight on
the range with many different drivers to find the correct loft and
shaft. With the Launch
Monitor it gives the fitter some statistics to better fit the driver
before trying them on the range.
Even with the Monitor, I still find some players needing a
different club on the range.
This is where a good eye and understanding of the golf swing can
help.
The fitter will ask many
questions about the player since all information can help find the
correct driver. It is
similar to a puzzle. You
need all the pieces before putting it together.
Some of the information that is needed in conjunction to
seeing the swing is:
Age
Practice Time
Playing Time
Do You Take Lessons
What Are Your Goals
Ball Flight
Current Distance of Driver
Ball Height
Swing Speed
Tempo
Angle of Attack
Path of Club
Face Angle
Hand Size
Any Health Issues (for example: injury, arthritis)
What it comes down to, is still
hitting demonstration drivers and having someone getting all the
information to better fit you.
