The Golf Swing Is Easy. Some of you are saying there is no way the golf swing is easy, however the full swing is similar to an action everyone has performed in one way or another. The golf swing is a throwing action. Throwing a stick from your yard with two hands about 10 yards away, skipping stones on a lake, throwing a ball side arm, and throwing a bucket of water on someone are just a few examples. One of the best drills I’ve seen and still use to make golfers feel this motion is throwing golf clubs. Not out of anger and never my Ping golf clubs. (But if your clubs do get broken I do know how to repair them.) I always start with a close target, about 10 yards away then work to a target that is further out. When you throw the club, you are trying to release the club level to the ground. Also, feel like you are going to throw it to the right of the target. NOTE: The most important thing is to make sure nothing is behind you or to the left of you (swing as a right hander) because many of the clubs thrown will end up left and/or behind you until you release the club correctly. If this scares you, start with throwing a soccer ball with both hands to a friend or your kids. As you will find in these drills, the golf club is swung with the body, not just the arms.
