Tee It Up!

Many golfers tee the ball up without analyzing the hole that they are playing.  This is one of the first steps in course management.  To save a few stokes per round a golfer needs to know where to tee the ball up on the tee box.  The rules of golf allow you to go back from the tee markers by two club lengths and a golfer can stand out of the tee box while hitting the ball as long as the ball is teed in the tee box.  Knowing this can allow different positioning of the ball within the tee box and determining what club will be best for the hole.

The first thing a golfer should do is look down the fairway from the tee and analyze where the trouble and safe areas are located.  Nine out of ten times a golfer should tee the ball up on the trouble side.  This will allow a better angle, away from trouble, giving the golfer a better chance of keeping the ball in play.  This also sets the ball up for the next shot.  At the beginning of every hole, golfers should have a game plan for their tee shot.   With this first step, you will be on your way to better course management.
